It is essential that any shed has a solid level floor to support the load of the walls and roof.
The floor is supported by tanalised 75x50mm timber bearers spaced at 400mm centres.
The finished floor material is 18mm WBP Hardwood Exterior Plywood BS EN 313/314. This is fixed onto the tanalised bearers and provides an extremely strong and durable floor that also looks great too.
The walls...
Solid and waterproof walls are vital to provide a dry and sturdy shed.
Planed Pine (Redwood) 50 x 50mm framing timbers with rounded corners.
Cladded with:
THE CLASSIC, THE NOOK & THE TOOL TIDY - 120 x 14mm Redwood Pine Tongue & Groove Matchboard. (Redwood pine is slow grown and far more durable and stable than the more commonly used 'white wood' home-grown pine).
THE TRADITIONAL - 175 x 20mm Tanalised Rustic Weather Board.
5.5mm Exterior Hardwood Plywood is also fitted between the exterior cladding and the 50x50mm framing timbers. This feature not only adds strength but also helps to ensure the shed stays dry internally. It also creates a clean smooth finish to compliment the floor and roof finishes.
The roof is possibly the most important part of your Cosy Shed. That's why we only use the strongest and most durable materials to ensure that any moisture stays where we want it to...on the outside!
The roof purlins are either 90x40mm or 100x50mm depending upon the size of your Cosy Shed.
The roof sections are made using 12mm WBP Hardwood Exterior Plywood BS EN 313/314. This is then covered with a water proof membrane.
Finally the roof is finished with colour co-ordinated facia boards and soffit boards. We also recommend guttering, which we can provide at additional cost.
